September News – Apple Security, New Review, and Tips

September has been a very active month. A lot of new things happened on BookCore’s journey. For example, we have received a nice review by publishingwithlove.com! The most important, however, is that we have enhanced our Apple security.

Enhanced Apple Security

There is no longer a need to provide credentials to track your Apple sales with BookCore. We have been working hard on this, and finally, it’s out!

We have created a short How-To video – Check it out if you haven’t.

The Review by Publishingwithlove.com

We are pleased about a new review we have received. Made by PublishingWithLove, it is an excellent summary of what BookCore does and how it works.

Amazon Paperbacks Added to BookCore

Amazon Paperbacks Added to BookCore

We are delighted to announce that Amazon Paperbacks have been added to BookCore! From now on, BookCore app tracks not only the ebooks but paperbacks as well. This will improve the accuracy of the tracked data significantly. The paperbacks, however, have been added only for Amazon so far.

We have also added another way of displaying the data in Analyze page.

You can now display the data by days. This allows you to display your last 90 days data. The other option is to display the data by months, which allows you to display all the historical data that are available.

With the new paperback tracking feature, BookCore automatically links your paperback book with the same ebook, so your data will be displayed correctly as one book. However, in exceptional cases, it might be necessary to link the paperback manually with the ebook of the same title.

News – BookCore cooperation with CzechInvest

European Union supports BookCore!

It’s an honor for us to announce that BookCore was chosen by the European Union!

This year, BookCore has applied for a start-up programme called “CzechStarter” by CzechInvest. After a long application journey, we had to pass the evaluation stages in CzechStarter, which included many presentations of our start-up in front of a CzechInvest’s jury, pitch decks and much other exciting stuff. It was not easy, but we made it! BookCore was chosen to participate in the project! And it wouldn’t be possible without your ideas and support. Thank you!

BookCore Introduction Video – A Short Guide

Few Introduction Words

BookCore is a book sales, rankings, and reviews tracking app, so authors can focus on making books, not numbers. We are very happy about the growing number of users we have and that our users find BookCore useful. Our goal is and always will be to ease your self or indie publishing journey. It’s a pleasure to see that the hard work pays off.

BookCore is a start-up. We are aware that the whole app needs improvements, as start-ups usually do, and we are honestly working hard every day to become more user-friendly and, most importantly, trustworthy. We would like to thank you, our users, for your feedback, support, and patience you have with us.

Now, let’s talk about the video.

We are aware that not everyone is a tech geek and we felt like some people could get lost inside our app or they might not find every function. Therefore, our CEO, Petr Hrachovec, has prepared a nice video guide where he explains how BookCore works and shows all the features we have so far.

Enjoy! 🙂

We would like to encourage you to continue sending feedback and ideas for improvements. It will help us all a lot.

Are you selling your ebooks on multiple marketplaces? No? Check out our article – Ebook Sales On Multiple Marketplaces

Ebook Sales on Multiple Marketplaces

Ebook Sales on Multiple Marketplaces

As everybody knows, Amazon KDP is the biggest market for ebook sales. Most of the self-published or indie-published authors are selling their ebooks there. In numbers:

According to Authorearnings.com, in 2017 nearly 84% of all ebook sales are being sold on Amazon, which is around $3,2 M/year. These numbers are enormous.

However, we have noticed that so many self-publishers or indie publishers are omitting the other markets that could be boosting their sales!

2017 Numbers According to Authorearnings.com:

  • Taken all together, Amazon accounts for more than 80% of English-language ebook purchases
  • Apple another 10%
  • Kobo 2%
  • Nook 3%
  • The remaining 3%–ascribed to GooglePlay and all remaining channels

Apple:

63M/year of Ebook unit sales – 20% of it is Indie/Self-published – it’s more than 12,5 M of sold units!

Nook:

Nook’s numbers are a little lower than Apple

19M/year of Ebook unit sales – 20% Indie/Self-published – it’s more than 3,5M of sold units!

Kobo:

11M/year of Ebook unit sales – 22% Indie/Self-published – nearly 2,5M of sold units.

Discussion

If the goal is to sell as much as possible, and it definitely is, why there are so many self-published authors or indie publishers not using stores such as Apple, Google, Smashwords, Nook or Kobo? Is it because people are lazy to add the books to the stores? (It is not an easy and 2 minutes task, but still). Or is it because they don’t believe that it will boost their sales enough? Or are they worried because it was hard to track their sales? (it’s not anymore, BookCore.net is here!)

Or is it because they are using completely different ways?

Please, feel free to share your opinion with us, it will be highly appreciated.
